Railay... We loved this place!

We took a boat from Koh Yao Yai to Krabi, said goodbye to Grandma (this part was really sad and there was a lot of crying). She was going home and we were going to board another boat to Railay. We took the public ferry, a long tail boat that was quite far from the beach, so we had to cross a muddy sand, into the water trying not to get anything wet. Good that we only had backpacks, there were people struggling with huge suitcases. When we got there, a few minutes later it was the same thing again, get out of the boat with water up to the knees on the beach. We stayed on the opposite side of Railay beach (cheaper and less crowded accommodation), 5 to 10 minutes walking. The hotel was fair, rooms were good, spacious and clean. If you want a cheaper option on that area we recommend this place Sunrise Tropical hotel. It was late so we left everything in the room and got out for dinner. Railay was a nice surprise, lively with several restaurants and bars, lots of people but not too full. Well, the not too full part was an illusion, we couldn't believe when we saw so many people at the beach the next day! It was horribly crowded in Railay beach. We found a spot and spent the morning there, the water was transparent and warm, it was a nice day at the beach! My mom was my company for the massages, so that afternoon while Teresa took a nap I took Francisco with me, he loved it! Everybody was very excited to have a “baby” there, people in Thailand love children, they are always so nice with the kids.
The next day we went exploring the caves in Para Nang beach. The way to get there is incredible, among the rocks and caves through a path full of monkeys. Off course the kids loved it! It was early morning and the beach looked incredible but the day tour boats started to arrived and the place became horrible, there was not a single grain of sand available, we were lucky because we spread our things and the kids beach toys (a lot of small plastic sand shapes) so we were quite comfortable (at least we had space to breathe). We got our lunch on the boats, there are no restaurants on that side so the only food available was 5 long tail boats transformed into restaurants on the shore. That day we went home in the middle of the afternoon for the kids to take a nap (we met a Portuguese couple and we were going out for dinner), we love the beach at the end of the day but we didn't want 2 sleepy cranky kids at night.
Last day in Railay and kids begged to go to “monkey beach”. They called it that because around lunch time and in the afternoon a bunch of monkeys appear on the beach steeling people’s food (we had to eat on the water to not be attacked). It was quite funny to watch! It was a nice surprise, there was still a lot of people but nothing compared to the day before, and in the middle of the afternoon almost everyone left and it was perfect! The place is amazing, transparent water, with all the cliffs and some secret beaches (caves) to explore. The kids were so happy climbing the trees! Sunset there was beautiful to watch. We stayed there until it was night so we went straight to dinner still on our bathing suits, it was a great day!

Apanhamos um barco de Koh Yao Yai para Krabi, dissemos adeus à avó (com muito choro pelo meio). A avó voava para casa e nós apanhávamos outro barco para Railay. Apanhamos o barco público, um long tail boat que estava bastante longe da praia que obrigava a andar bastante com água pelos joelhos (a chegar à cintura) e a ter muito cuidado para não molharmos tudo. Felizmente só tínhamos mochilas, havia muitas pessoas com malas grandes e pesadas para quem não foi fácil chegar ao barco. Chegados a Krabi, repetiu-se a história: sair do barco a umas centenas de metros da praia e andar com água pelos joelhos. Ficamos no lado oposto a Railay beach (mais barato e com menos confusão), entre 5 e 10 minutos a pé. O hotel era razoável, com quartos de bom tamanho e limpo. Para quem quiser um hotel que não seja caro neste sítio aconselhamos o Sunrise Tropical Hotel. Já era tarde por isso deixamos tudo no quarto e saímos para jantar. Railay foi uma boa surpresa, com muita vida e vários restaurantes e bares, muita gente mas não demasiado cheio. Ou pelo menos assim pensamos nós porque no dia seguir quando chegamos à praia não acreditamos na quantidade de pessoas que estava. Não se cabia. Passamos lá a manhã com água quente e transparente, um bom dia de praia.
A minha Mãe era a minha companhia para as massagens e sem ela foi o Francisco que me fez companhia numa massagem à tarde enquanto a Teresinha fez uma sesta. Ele adorou. Na Tailândia as pessoas são muito simpáticas, especialmente com crianças e todas as massagistas adoraram ter lá um bebé.
No dia seguinte fomos explorar as grutas em Para Nang beach. O caminho para lá chegar é muito giro com rochas, penhascos e grutas sempre com a companhia de macacos. Ainda era cedo e a praia parecia optima até começarem a chegar as excursões que visitam durante o dia e ficar demasiado cheia. Não havia um grão de areia disponível mas como espalhamos um bocado os baldes e formas dos putos ficamos com algum espaço LOL.
Nesta praia não há restaurantes por isso a única forma de comprar comida é nos vários barcos que lá estão a cozinhar e vender comida e bebidas. Voltamos para casa a meio do dia para os miúdos poderem fazer uma sesta porque na noite antes tínhamos conhecido um casal português e íamos jantar com eles à noite. Adoramos a praia ao fim do dia mas ir jantar com miúdos rabugentos não era uma opção.
Chegamos ao último dia em Railay e os putos imploravam para voltarmos à praia dos macacos. Este foi o nome que lhe deram porque a meio do dia e durante a tarde aparecem macacos que roubam a comida às pessoas o que dá um espectáculo divertido (acabamos por almoçar a ‘molhar os pés’ para os macacos não virem buscar a nossa comida). Foi uma supresa quando lá chegamos e vimos que estava muito menos gente que no dia anterior e a meio da tarde ficou quase vazio, perfeito!
O sítio é muito bonito com água transparente, penhascos altos e até uma praia ‘secreta’ por trás de uma gruta. Os miúdos estiveram muito tempo entretidos a subir umas árvores (o passatempo preferido). Ficamos lá até quase à noite com um pôr de sol perfeito e fomos directos para o jantar ainda de fato de banho. Um grande dia.
